Jay Cohen represents individuals and families who suffer due to the negligence of others. His experience has earned him membership in the American Board of Trial Advocates, peer recognition from Super Lawyers, Florida’s Legal Elite, The Best Lawyers in America, and the Lifetime Achievement Award from America’s Top 100 Attorneys®. Earlier this year, he won the Broward County Bar Association’s Lynn Futch Professionalism Award.

Jay was twice named a finalist in the Daily Business Review’s Most Effective Lawyers Report in the medical malpractice category as a result of two large jury verdicts. In 2015, as lead trial counsel, he obtained a $14 million settlement in a class action suit against Broward General Medical Center on behalf of cardiac stress lab patients who, over a five-year period, were exposed to contaminated saline. In 2014, the DBR named him a Finalist in the same category after he obtained a jury award of $19.25 million for a 43-year-old Hollywood woman who suffered damages due to negligent delay in treatment.

Jay is an elected member of The Florida Bar’s Board of Governors and the Board of the Urban League of Broward County. He has taught law at Nova Southeastern University Law School and St.Thomas University School of Law. He was an undergraduate at the University of Florida and received his J.D. at South Texas College of Law.
