New York-based criminal defense lawyer and civil litigator Joseph Tacopina has been cast as one of the lawyers on Fox’s new unscripted courtroom series, “You The Jury.”
The hour-long series premiered April 7, 2017, and is hosted by Judge Jeanine Pirro. The cases address hot-button issues that make headlines in America and feature the legal prowess of six notable trial lawyers, including the Tacopina & Seigel name partner. Live, civil case arguments are made to studio and home audiences and former judge of the Superior Court of California LaDoris Cordell. After closing arguments, the studio and remote audiences have five minutes to vote guilty or not guilty via text and the Fox Now app. The live verdict is revealed at the end of the eastern/central broadcast. While the verdict is then legally binding, should the cumulative votes lead to a different verdict after west coast broadcast, the original verdict will be overturned.
Featured in New York’s Leading Lawyers 2016, Tacopina has represented many high-profile clients, including New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez in his appeal of a 211-game suspension imposed by Major League Baseball for allegedly using performance-enhancing drugs.
