Employment litigation was a nascent field when, in the 1970s, Gary Carlin focused his practice in that area. As the field grew, Carlin’s firm—now called Carlin & Buchsbaum, LLP—grew with it. Today, the firm is a leading employee rights law firm in Southern California, having achieved more than $100 million for its clients, with 16 attorneys who have more than 175 years of legal experience.
“We work as a team to pursue the most effective strategies for our clients,” Carlin explains. “And what makes us unique is that we handle both civil employment litigation and workers’ compensation—a scant few employment firms in Southern California handle both civil and workers compensation, and our knowledge enables us to negotiate a global resolution to the benefit of our clients.” The Carlin & Buchsbaum firm itself was named “Best Employee Rights firm – California” by Legal Elite 2015, and continuing thereafter to, through, and including the present.
The firm works on hundreds of civil employment and workers’ compensation cases. The firm’s caseload reflects the expertise of its members, who are all well-respected in the legal community. In addition to being AV Preeminent® rated by Martindale-Hubbell®, Carlin was solicited in 2013 by Thomson Reuters to author a chapter for its publication entitled “Inside the Minds.” Carlin has been solicited to be a featured author in Thomson Reuters’ book, Employment Law 2015, for which he has authored “Major Milestones in 2014, Anticipated Trends for 2015.” Carlin was also nominated by Forbes Magazine as “Best Lawyer in Long Beach.” His law partners, Brent Buchsbaum and Laurel Haag, have both achieved inclusion in Super Lawyers, and Buchsbaum is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
“The gratifying part is what we’ve been able to achieve for our clients, who benefit from our representation by receiving redemption and justice for ill-conceived adverse employment decisions that have had devastating impacts on their lives,” Carlin says.
