Prominent Bay Area civil rights attorney John L. Burris is best known for handling high-pro le Plaintiffs’ Civil Rights cases throughout California. Recent cases of public interest include the underage victim of sexual exploitation at the center of the Oakland police sex scandal; $11.3 million jury verdict against the City of San Jose; Mario Woods, a young black man fatally shot by San Francisco Police. He is a founding Board member of National Police Accountability Project (NPAP); Board member of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights-San Francisco.
