Buffalo law firm Hodgson Russ showed its sweet side on Valentine’s Day by matching 400 employees with local nonprofit organizations.

On Feb. 14, the general practice firm opened its doors to representatives from 20 nearby nonprofit organizations and connected them with staff and lawyers. The goal was to inspire hands-on support and involvement from attendees in long- and short-term projects and initiatives.

Each nonprofit was sponsored by a Hodgson Russ employee with connections as a board member or volunteer. Though the missions varied, nearly all the organizations shared the need for hands-on participation. “Our involvement with community-based organizations doesn’t stop at the board level,” said Hodgson Russ President, Rick Kennedy in a statement. “We routinely roll-up our sleeves and enjoy working directly with the organizations and the people they serve.”

Hodgson Russ is also sponsoring a professional clothing drive that will benefit the ECC One Stop Center, which provides clothing to job seekers who are preparing for interviews.
